Natural cycles, Natural IVF, and
Minimal stimulation IVF
Natural cycles
A natural cycle is a cycle where you wait until a woman’s body naturally stimulates the ovaries and recruits one or, in the case of twins, two follicles. Our clinic will wait until there is a natural surge in endogenous LH levels which indicates spontaneous ovulation.
⠀
Our goal is to monitor your follicular growth and hormonal levels closely (almost daily) to track ovulation and give you an indication of when to schedule timed intercourse.
Natural IVF
Natural cycle IVF is a treatment for infertility that uses the same process as conventional IVF, but does not involve the use of hormonal stimulation of the ovaries to produce multiple eggs.
If the fertilized egg (embryo) reaches the blastocyst stage and is healthy, the embryo is then, transferred to the woman’s uterus for implantation where it can develop into a pregnancy.
⠀
Our goal at Tripod Fertility is to monitor your follicular growth and hormonal levels closely to track ovulation and schedule the ideal time frame for an egg retrieval.
⠀
If male infertility is a concern, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), where healthy sperm is injected directly into the egg, may be used for the fertilization process.
Minimal stimulation IVF
Minimal stimulation IVF is similar to conventional IVF in the procedures used during treatment. What’s different is how much medication is used to stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs. Mini stimulation IVF uses weaker medications or lower doses of medications.
⠀
As with in vitro fertilization (IVF), this type of IVF is monitored throughout the cycle, egg retrieval, fertilization of egg and sperm, and embryo transfer.
⠀
Minimal Stimulation IVF may be a better option if you:
- Prefer a less invasive IVF experience
- Have Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Have low ovarian reserves
- Prefer a less expensive treatment
Choosing minimal stimulation IVF may be an option if you really want to avoid the possible risk of multiples during IUI treatment. With minimal stimulation IVF, you can decide to transfer a certain number of embryos.
